PRS Guitars owners most agree that the pickups are the leak link in the guitar!

I own both Gibson les Paul’s and gibson sg’s. they are both great guitars. The only hick with the sg that can be “problematic” is the neck sways way more the a les Paul. It’s almost like an intergrated whammy in the neck. Once you know that, you have to keep it in mind not to sway the neck out of tune while playing.

I play 3 hour gigs. Ive been mostly an sg guy. But been playing many shapes. Recently found a weight releived lp studio thats lighter than my SG’s. But I’m still used to the way an SG strap hangs. Mine never dive. But I like the pivot point on the back. It lets me be as limber as I am on stage My main complaint of the SG is the knobs are too far away. I got an 89 3 knob special where theres a knob closer to the strat volume spot. It was for neck pickup. But i switched that. My prs se has the best knob location

Two of my buds hold the pick like you, one is a great metal rhythm guitarist, the other is outstanding at everything he does. You could perhaps use your old method and try introducing different pick angles relative to the strings, as your pick appears to be too parallel to the string, increasing the drag. And also maybe lighten up a bit; dont pick as hard for the fastest stuff. Plus try the downward and upward pick slanting ala Troy Grady. Your grip can work better for you. I'm fairly certain of this.

Were you able to practice sitting with the guitar and if so how soon? Just had it done and am a drummer and day 5 now of recovery and just did some practice not using my feet but just using hands. Hopefully not doing any damage. Not much info out there for working musicians (other than a few horn forums about this) to get any advice from personal experiences.

I have the same Strat! I’ve had it since 2010 when I bought it with my hard-earned summer cash from a pawn shop during high school. It’s also a 98-99 and sings - I just stuck some 57/62 pickups and it sounds beautiful.

Hated them my whole life. Randomly walked into guitar center in Hollywood 8 years ago and saw a used 2005 hanging on the wall. Plugged it in, played it, never looked back. Beat guitar I’ve ever owned

This is the definition of "silly". If it was a real reason, you'd keep the pickups in H mode and the switch in 1 or 3 or 5 and you'd be DONE. But we all know it's not the real reason.
